Vero Beach Man Receives 14-Year Sentence for Methamphetamine Trafficking

Miami, FL – A 30-year-old man, Denzil Olajuwon Stewart, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison following his conviction for distributing methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks handed down the sentence, which also includes five years of supervised release, after Stewart was found guilty of selling 276.7 grams of pure methamphetamine.

The incident occurred on December 28, 2023, when law enforcement officers observed Stewart leaving his Vero Beach residence in a white Porsche SUV. He drove to another location approximately 30 minutes away, where he conducted the sale. The methamphetamine was later discovered to be packaged in a plastic shopping bag marked with Stewart’s fingerprints.

Stewart was convicted by a jury on charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

The case was brought to light by U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne for the Southern District of Florida, in collaboration with the DEA Miami Field Division and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation was conducted by DEA Port Saint Lucie and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, while Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Hudock and Michael Porter led the prosecution.
