Ocala, FL – A Summerfield man, Mark Daly, 60, has admitted to escaping from federal prison, a charge that could result in a maximum prison sentence of five years. His sentencing date is yet to be determined.
Daly’s escape occurred on February 21, 2025, from the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex prison camp located in Sumter County. He was serving a 10-year sentence for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Following his escape, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) launched a search operation, using a search warrant to track the GPS location of a cellphone Daly was using.
On February 27, 2025, Daly was found near an abandoned residence in Palatka. He was in the company of two others, both wanted for criminal charges, including his girlfriend, who had also escaped from federal prison. All three were apprehended and taken into custody.
The investigation was conducted by the DEA and the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team, with the case being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tyrie K. Boyer.
