Heading to Tigre on Biscayne Boulevard, you might think you are lost when you turn the corner looking for this charming restaurant, located right on the Little River on the Upper East Side. But hiding among the trees is chef Deborah de Corral’s Argentinian bistro – with woven reed screens, intricate patterns and a vaulted ceiling.
The airy dining room, named for a town north of Buenos Aires, opens to a waterfront terrace where Corral shows she’s not afraid of bold, bright flavors. Dishes like poached red shrimp with an aji amarillo-lime vinaigrette and the 36-hour beef rib, which is smoked, cooked sous vide and then grilled, underscore this. A satisfying dulce de leche flan provides a sweet finish to this intimate experience.
Inspired by the traditional cafes and bistros of Buenos Aires, Tigre Rrestaurant and Bar offers a modern interpretation of Argentine cuisine with a touch of American influences and Miami’s cultural melting pot. Not for nothing is Tigre one of the best restaurants in Miami.
Tigre’s menu offers a generous selection of appetizers, including tiradito with red shrimp and creamy croquetas with blue crab. The main course selection is equally tempting with mojo verde mussels and the 36 Hour Beef Rib to share. The restaurant is open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from noon to 11 p.m. on Sunday.
