Allegiant Air has unveiled plans to enhance its operations at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) by adding eight nonstop flights scheduled to commence in February 2025.

The latest expansion by Allegiant Air brings the total number of destinations served by the airline at SRQ to 35. This move is part of the airline’s strategy to reinforce its presence in the region and offers travelers increased options for nonstop flights to various new destinations. Among the new cities that will be directly accessible from Sarasota are Albany, Elmira, Knoxville, Lexington, Moline, Omaha, and Roanoke, as well as Greenville, South Carolina, highlighting a concerted effort to connect SRQ with a broader segment of the country.

Erin Duggan, President and CEO of Visit Sarasota County, emphasized the importance of these new routes in promoting tourism and awareness about Sarasota. According to Duggan, the marketing and sales teams are actively engaged in informing prospective travelers from the newly added cities about the attributes and attractions of the Sarasota area. She stated, “We’re making sure the folks on the other side know that there is a flight to our community, and know everything that our community has to offer.” Her remarks were made at the recent Indicators and Insights Summit where plans for the upcoming year were also discussed.

The announcement aligns with the upcoming opening of a new concourse in January, all five gates of which are leased to Allegiant Air. Rick Piccolo, president and CEO of Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, expressed enthusiasm about the development, stating, “As we approach the grand opening of our new Concourse A, we are excited to see Allegiant expand their routes to include eight new nonstop destinations.” This expansion contributes significantly to the overall increase in nonstop destinations offered at SRQ, boosting the total number to 67 when including all airline services.

The airline’s broader rollout on November 19 also featured 44 new routes across the country, with SRQ receiving more new flights than any other airport. This indicates a robust commitment from Allegiant to cater to the growing demand for air travel to and from Sarasota. Additionally, Allegiant’s promotional fares, beginning at $49 one-way for some routes, reinforce its goal to provide affordable travel options to an expanding customer base.

Meanwhile, Allegiant has also added new routes from other regional airports, including connections between Punta Gorda Airport and Chattanooga, Tennessee, and between St. Pete Clearwater International Airport and Colorado Springs, Colorado. These enhancements are likely to play a role in the regional aviation landscape, making air travel more accessible for area residents.

Allegiant Air’s decision to add new nonstop flights at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport not only increases travel opportunities for Sarasota residents but also fosters greater connectivity within the region, enhancing its appeal as a travel destination.
