Fresno, Calif. – Randy's Donuts, an iconic brand celebrated for its classic treats, has recently opened a new location near Fresno State, marking a significant expansion into the Valley. The shop, situated at Shaw and Maple, is already proving to be a success, matching the sales figures of one of Los Angeles' top stores.
Raul Avila, the head baker at Randy's Donuts, shares insights into the new location's early achievements. "For the grand opening, we ended up making 7,000 donuts," Avila stated. The success of the Fresno location is supported by a dedicated team in a commissary kitchen that operates across town, producing all the donuts that are delivered fresh to the store by 5 a.m.
"We did go down there and train with Randy's very own bakers," Avila commented, emphasizing the authenticity and quality control measures in place. "From the baking to the proofing to the frying, we are meticulously looking at everything." Among the many varieties offered, Fresno locals seem to favor premium selections such as Nutella, coffee, and fruity pebble raised, alongside classic flavors like chocolate and maple.
The "Matcha Tea Raised" donut has become a bestseller, with its unique blend of white icing mixed with matcha and topped with a crumb of cake donuts and matcha powder. "If they're too cold, the sugar won't stick, and if they're too warm, the sugar would actually dissolve," Avila explained, highlighting the attention to detail that goes into each creation.
The joy and satisfaction derived from providing quality donuts to the community are palpable. "Knowing that a lot of families are coming in, enjoying our donuts, and coming back for more makes us feel good," Avila expressed.
Looking ahead, Randy's Donuts plans to open additional locations in Clovis, across from Sierra Vista Mall, and at Palm and Bullard, with hopes to launch 10 new stores across the Central Valley by year's end.
