As he stated during an interview at The New York Times DealBook Summit, ‘The more direct reports the CEO has, the less layers are in the company.’

At Stripe Sessions 2024, he explained, ‘Almost everything that I say, I say to everybody all at the same time,’ highlighting his belief that crucial information should not be limited to just a few individuals.

Feedback, according to Huang, is most effective when given in a group setting. This public approach serves as a learning opportunity for the entire team, allowing them to learn from each other’s experiences rather than just their own. He posed a reflective question: ‘Why learn from your own mistakes? Why learn from your own embarrassment? You’ve got to learn from other people’s embarrassment.’

Huang is known for his brief yet frequent communication style, often sending numerous short emails throughout the day. This method promotes clarity and efficiency, requiring concise communication from his team. Former employees have noted the expectation of brevity and the emphasis on dialogue over lengthy emails.

Emphasizing the importance of illustrating problem-solving processes, Huang often demonstrates how he reasons through various challenges. This practice is aimed at empowering his team by showing that complex problems can be simplified and addressed methodically. Sharing his reasoning process is seen as a contribution to his team’s growth and understanding.
