Applications are now open for the latest round of direct grants through the Small Business Support Hub, with the deadline set for August 16, 2025. The Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation is encouraging local businesses to carefully prepare their applications to maximize their chances of receiving funding.
The grant application process officially opened on June 15 and will run until August 16. The subsequent phases, including ranking and selecting the applications, will take place from August 17 to September 20. Successful applicants will be notified by October 1.
The extended application window is designed to give applicants ample time to prepare thorough and well-planned submissions. “Grants go to the strongest applications, not the fastest,” a representative from the Economic Development Corporation emphasized. They are urging businesses to connect with local economic development professionals who can provide guidance and support throughout the application process.
The Economic Development Corporation has made available a team of experts ready to assist applicants in crafting their submissions. These professionals include Tammy Henry in Luce County, Chris Olson in Chippewa County, Tara Parrish from the Bay Mills Indian Community, Dean Reid in Mackinac County, Nikki Radke in the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Rob Sawruk with the Sault Tribe, and Miche Rayment for the Eastern UP region at large. Applicants can reach out to these contacts via the provided email addresses for assistance.
This initiative aims to support small businesses by providing them with the financial resources necessary to grow and succeed. Businesses are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to bolster their ventures with thoughtful planning and expert guidance.
