St. Pete Firm Partners to Enhance EV Charging Infrastructure

Family-owned St. Pete contracting firm, Power Design, is making significant strides in the electric vehicle (EV) charging sector by joining forces with Maryland-based Blink Charging.

Power Design has embarked on a substantial project to install 429 Blink chargers across the country, providing a total of 723 plugs. These chargers will primarily serve residents living and working within Power Design’s developments, marking a step forward in accommodating the rising demand for electric vehicles.

The partnership, characterized by long-term collaboration, highlights the growing importance of accessible and reliable EV charging services in multi-family apartments and condominiums. Mike Kuhn, Energy Account Manager at Power Design, emphasized the added value of on-site charging, describing it as a modern convenience that enhances living spaces.

Blink Charging, established in 2009, has a notable presence with nearly 85,000 charging ports deployed globally. This collaboration with Power Design reflects the increasing trend of integrating EV infrastructure within residential projects, aligning with the future of urban living.

Power Design’s journey from its founding in the garage of Mitch and Dana Permuy in 1989 to achieving $1 billion in revenue in 2023 underscores its growth and commitment to innovation. The company’s expansion into EV infrastructure represents a natural progression in its service offerings.

The collaboration between Power Design and Blink Charging signifies an advancement in residential EV charging solutions, meeting the evolving needs of electric vehicle users.
