A man was apprehended following a high-speed police chase in Miami County early Sunday morning. The pursuit began after local authorities attempted to intercept a suspected drunk driver near the Sherwood Shopping Center on N Market Street just after 1:30 a.m.
The driver, identified as Colin Langdon, 32, from Cincinnati, reportedly failed to comply with officers’ signals to stop, prompting the chase. The situation escalated on W. Main Street close to South Lane, where law enforcement initiated a PIT maneuver in an attempt to halt the vehicle. However, Langdon allegedly collided with police cruisers and continued his route along South Lane.
Despite multiple attempts to stop Langdon, including driving through a shopping center parking lot and continuing north on S. Dorset Road, a third PIT maneuver eventually led to his vehicle crashing into a utility pole. Even then, Langdon reportedly rammed the pursuing police vehicles several more times before officers intervened by breaking a window and deploying a taser to subdue him.
Langdon was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Miami County Jail. He faces preliminary charges that include failure to comply with a lawful order, assault on a police officer, and various traffic violations. The chase resulted in damage to three police cruisers.
Further investigations revealed that the vehicle Langdon was operating was linked to two separate hit-and-run incidents involving parked cars on Shaftsbury Road. Authorities continue to examine the details surrounding these events.
