Alleged Drunk Driver Crashes into Police Cars and Topples Utility Pole in Pursuit

Early Sunday morning, a routine traffic stop escalated into a high-speed police chase through Miami County, causing significant disruptions and damage. A suspect, believed to be driving under the influence, collided with police vehicles and downed a utility pole during the pursuit.

The incident began when Colin Langdon, aged 32, was observed swerving erratically on the road with his hazard lights activated. A Troy police officer attempted to initiate a stop by deploying his cruiser’s lights and siren, urging Langdon to pull over on North Market Street near the Sherwood Shopping Center.

Instead of complying, Langdon attempted to evade law enforcement by driving erratically along West Main Street, near South Lane. The Troy Police Department reported that Langdon ignored multiple traffic signals, running several red lights as captured on police cruiser cameras.

To bring the chase to an end, officers executed several Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuvers. The situation resulted in damaged police cruisers and an infrastructure impact due to the fallen utility pole.

The dramatic police chase through Miami County serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with impaired driving. The incident not only endangered the lives of those directly involved but also posed significant risks to other road users and pedestrians in the area.
