Among these cases is a 2021 incident where human remains were discovered in Oakland Park.
Back in May 2021, the FBI uncovered a body in the 4200 block of North Dixie Highway. Aerial footage captured by Sky 10 showed agents retrieving what was believed to be an article of clothing from the site. Authorities indicated that the land was undeveloped at the time of the burial, although it has since been developed into townhomes.
Investigations suggest that these four homicides, dating back a decade, are connected to MS-13, a gang infamous for its brutal violence. The FBI established an MS-13 National Gang Task Force in 2004, and in 2018, President Donald Trump classified the group as a foreign terrorist organization. This designation has enabled federal agencies to allocate more resources to track and prosecute its members effectively.
