Oakland Park, FL – Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation into a tragic car crash that resulted in the death of a passenger. The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the intersection of Northeast 15th Avenue and East Oakland Park Boulevard.

The crash involved a 2010 Toyota Corolla, driven by Jhanne Teo, and a 2015 Hyundai Accent, driven by Carlon Cartwright Jr. According to investigators, Teo was traveling eastbound on East Oakland Park Boulevard with two passengers, including Timothy Magill, when he attempted a U-turn to head westbound. During this maneuver, the Hyundai, traveling westbound, struck the front passenger side of the Toyota.

The collision caused the Toyota to veer in a northwest direction, eventually hitting a fire hydrant. Both vehicles came to rest in the northwest corner of the intersection. Emergency responders from the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Oakland Park Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, transporting Teo, Magill, and a juvenile passenger from the Corolla to a local hospital. While Teo and the juvenile sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Magill’s condition was critical.

Carlon Cartwright Jr. reported no injuries and remained at the scene as the investigation continued. Tragically, on Wednesday, April 30, Magill succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:56 p.m.

The case has been handed over to the Traffic Homicide Unit for further investigation. The circumstances leading to the crash are still being examined.
