Connecticut Man Charged with Attempted Arson Linked to Home Where Mother’s Dismembered Body Discovered

A recent investigation in West Haven has led to an attempted arson charge against a man following the discovery of his mother’s decomposing body. Authorities arrested 27-year-old Theodore Lloyd on Monday for one count of attempting to commit second-degree arson. This development was announced by the West Haven Police Department.

The incident came to light on March 24 when police responded to a residence on Nashawena Avenue. The response was prompted by concerns raised by Tina Lloyd’s elder son, who had not been in contact with his 70-year-old mother for several weeks. Upon arrival, investigators discovered her dismembered and decomposing remains placed in 14 plastic bags within the home.

Further examination of the property revealed indications that an attempt had been made to set the home on fire. Subsequently, authorities secured a warrant for Theodore Lloyd, who is currently detained on a $1 million bond. He is expected to appear in Superior Court in Milford on May 27.

During a news conference, police indicated that while Theodore Lloyd faces charges related to the attempted arson, further charges concerning the death of Tina Lloyd are anticipated as the investigation progresses. At this time, he has not been charged with involvement in her death.

The case continues to be under active investigation as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
