Dayton Man Charged in Downtown Shooting and Subsequent Crash

Currently held in Montgomery County Jail, Garrison is set to appear in court on Wednesday, as noted by the jail’s website. The incident dates back to April 1, around 1:15 a.m., when law enforcement officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of East Fourth and South Main streets, discovering a 46-year-old man in a vehicle that had crashed. The victim, suffering from a gunshot wound, was transported to the hospital with injuries initially described as life-threatening. As of Tuesday, authorities confirmed that his condition has stabilized.

Following the incident, an investigation was launched that eventually led to the identification of Garrison as a suspect. The process began when the victim’s family informed authorities that the shooter was known by the alias “Gutta” and was associated with drug activities in the Park Manor apartment complex. Utilizing Flock cameras and surveillance from downtown Dayton businesses, investigators were able to determine the make, model, and license plate of the suspect’s vehicle, as well as identify a potential suspect.

Despite an initial attempt to approach the vehicle at the apartment complex, it eluded authorities. However, subsequent efforts by other officers led to the apprehension of the driver, who was identified as Garrison. Interviews conducted with Garrison and his girlfriend corroborated the use of the alias “Gutta.”
