Pompano Beach, Fla. – Homicide detectives are making a renewed push for public assistance in a six-month-old unsolved murder case, releasing new surveillance footage that captures the suspected gunman just moments before the crime.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is seeking to identify the man shown in the video, who they believe shot and killed Roderick Henry in what appears to have been a targeted attack on the night of December 1, 2024.

According to investigators, Henry was an inmate at a work release facility in Pompano Beach and was completing a prison sentence for crimes committed in Palm Beach County. On the night of his murder, Henry was outside the facility speaking with someone when the shooter, who detectives say was waiting for him, walked up and shot him. The assailant then fled.

The newly released video shows the man believed to be the shooter standing alone near a vehicle in the 300 block of Avondale Drive, not far from the scene of the crime. In the brief clip, he lights a cigarette just before the fatal confrontation occurred around 11:55 p.m.
