Driver Dies in Fiery Crash After Car Hits Tree in Cooper City

Cooper City, FL – The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a deadly crash that occurred early on April 26, 2025, in Cooper City. The incident took place around 12:45 a.m. on the 5700 block of Sheridan Street.

Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that an adult male driver, whose identity is still pending, was traveling eastbound in a 2011 Nissan 370Z. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was moving at a high speed when it suddenly lost control. The car veered onto the center median, collided with a tree, and came to a stop. Following the impact, the vehicle partially caught fire, trapping the driver inside.

Emergency responders, including deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, and Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue, arrived promptly and extinguished the flames. Unfortunately, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives C. Greetham and S. Strzalkowski, along with Sgt. R. Hager of the Traffic Homicide Unit, are leading the ongoing investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
