Executive Summary
Laws and Precedent
Jose David Figueroa Pacheco, 33, of Davenport, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for trafficking over 40 grams of fentanyl, following his conviction by a jury on June 11, 2025. U.S. District Judge Paul W. Byron imposed the sentence, stemming from a joint investigation into narcotics and firearms trafficking in the Orlando area.
Investigation Details
Figueroa Pacheco’s co-defendant, Alberto Ismael Salinas Valencia, previously pleaded guilty on January 23, 2025, and received a 15-year federal prison sentence for his involvement. The sentencings conclude an investigation conducted between August 2023 and August 2024 by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
The joint operation aimed to identify and disrupt individuals involved in firearms and narcotics trafficking operating in the Orlando area. As part of this effort, an undercover officer successfully arranged a purchase of a firearm and fentanyl pills from Salinas Valencia.
Role in the Transaction
During the illicit transaction, Salinas Valencia arrived at the designated buy location as a passenger in Figueroa Pacheco’s truck, carrying the firearm. Figueroa Pacheco then actively participated by making phone calls to coordinate the delivery of the fentanyl pills. He also inspected the narcotics and ultimately facilitated the illicit exchange.
These sentencings underscore the ongoing efforts by federal and local law enforcement agencies to combat the trafficking of dangerous narcotics like fentanyl and illegal firearms within Central Florida communities. Such actions aim to dismantle drug networks and reduce the availability of deadly substances.
