In a troubling incident captured by surveillance footage, two men from Miami-Dade County have been apprehended and charged with attempted murder after firing shots from an SUV at a man in Florida City. The suspects, Tmarco Ellison, 23, and Shayvon Givens, 21, both from Homestead, were arrested on Wednesday night as authorities connected them to the shooting that occurred the same evening.
The sequence of events unfolded as the victim returned from Tutties Frutties on Redland Road and parked near a residence around 8:35 p.m. As the victim approached the front porch, a white Chevrolet Equinox drove by, with one of the suspects allegedly leaning out of the rear passenger window to fire shots at him. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though two .45 caliber shell casings were discovered at the scene, alongside bullet holes in a nearby pickup truck and the home’s facade.
Both a Ring doorbell camera and local CCTV captured the incident, showing a masked individual in a blue and black hoodie firing a weapon at the victim. About an hour later, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputies located a white Chevy Equinox matching the description near the 800 block of North Krome Avenue. Inside the vehicle, authorities found a black ski mask and a firearm. Givens, who reportedly matched the suspect’s attire in the surveillance footage, was sitting in the middle row of the SUV, while Ellison was identified as the driver.
The police have yet to determine a motive or clarify the relationship between the suspects and the victim. Both men are facing serious charges, including attempted felony murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, illegal use or display of a firearm, shooting or throwing a deadly missile, and unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public or residential area. They are currently held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
