Fort Myers, FL – An indictment has been unsealed charging Clarence Black, Jr., 49, of Tampa, and Jarrek Fabrion Myrick, 39, of Fort Myers, with conspiracy to traffic drugs and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. If found guilty, both men could face a maximum sentence of life in federal prison.
Authorities allege that between January 25 and February 4, 2025, Black and Myrick traveled to California to acquire methamphetamine and fentanyl, which they then shipped to Tampa and other areas in southwest Florida. Law enforcement intercepted the parcels, discovering a total of over 90 pounds of the illicit substances.
Black has a previous federal conviction for possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine, while Myrick has a prior conviction for second-degree murder.
The investigation was conducted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Tampa Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Morgan.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely a formal accusation of criminal conduct. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
