Fort Lauderdale, FL – A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a road rage incident at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, authorities announced. John William Morici was taken into custody following an altercation that occurred on Tuesday, April 29, in the vicinity of the 300 block of Terminal Drive.

The incident unfolded around 7 p.m. when the victim, attempting to leave the airport after picking up her daughter, tried to change lanes by signaling with her left blinker. Investigators report that an unidentified driver in a black Dodge Durango accelerated alongside her vehicle, blocking her lane change.

The victim eventually managed to switch lanes and found herself directly behind the Durango. At this point, the driver of the Durango reportedly applied the brakes abruptly, prompting the victim to change lanes again. As she passed the Durango, her daughter recorded the encounter on her cellphone.

Footage from the cellphone, which had been previously released to the public, shows Morici pointing a black handgun at the victim and her daughter. Upon noticing the cellphone, Morici allegedly concealed the weapon and fled the scene toward South Federal Highway.

On Thursday, May 15, Morici surrendered to authorities at the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail. He is facing two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
