Authorities have announced the arrest of four women in connection with a spate of burglaries across Nassau County on Long Island. The individuals, identified as Cornella Chiciu, 34; Cristina Tanasie, 25; Ioana Miclescu, 21; and Alina Antonescu, 36, were apprehended without incident on Tuesday. All four suspects are Romanian nationals.
The women are suspected to be involved in three distinct burglary operations within Nassau County. The alleged criminal activities commenced on March 14 with two burglaries in Elmont, followed by three more incidents on March 17 in Bethpage and East Meadow. The final two break-ins occurred this past Tuesday in Levittown and Plainview. The authorities have yet to disclose specific details regarding the stolen items, only noting that the burglars seized a “large amount” of cash and “personal belongings” from the residences.
Cornella Chiciu faces charges of seven counts of second-degree burglary. Her accomplices, Cristina Tanasie, Ioana Miclescu, and Alina Antonescu, each face two counts of the same charge. The investigation, conducted in concert with the Nassau County and New York police, also involved the Chicago Police Department and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
