Executive Summary
Laws and Precedent
Jevan Antonio Miller, a 28-year-old Jamaican citizen residing in Thomasville, Georgia, pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity and interstate travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. Miller’s plea stems from an undercover operation in Tallahassee, Florida, where he drove from Georgia to meet what he believed to be a 15-year-old girl for sex.
Details of the Plea
United States Attorney John P. Heekin for the Northern District of Florida announced the plea, emphasizing the commitment of law enforcement partners to relentlessly pursue offenders who seek to sexually exploit and victimize children. Heekin stated that aggressively prosecuting predators who prey upon the most vulnerable members of the community is one of his office’s top priorities.
Court documents reveal that between April 10 and April 12, 2025, detectives from the Tallahassee Police Department, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted a joint undercover operation in Leon County. The initiative focused on identifying individuals using the internet for child sexual exploitation.
During this operation, investigators identified Miller soliciting an undercover detective online, whom he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. Miller subsequently drove from Thomasville, Georgia, to a prearranged meeting location in Tallahassee, intending to engage in sexual activity with the perceived minor. Upon his arrival, law enforcement intercepted and arrested him immediately.
Potential Penalties and Sentencing
Miller now faces severe penalties, including a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life imprisonment. Following his release, he will be subject to five years to life of supervised release.
The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the Tallahassee Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Justin M. Keen is prosecuting the case.
Sentencing for Jevan Antonio Miller is scheduled for November 20, 2025, at 11:00 am before United States District Judge Mark E. Walker at the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee, Florida. This case highlights the persistent efforts by state and federal agencies to protect children from online predators.
