Haley Joel Osment Faces Charges for Cocaine Possession and Public Intoxication

Oscar-nominated actor Haley Joel Osment has been charged with public intoxication and cocaine possession following his arrest earlier this month at a ski resort in Northern California. The Mono County District Attorney’s office filed the misdemeanor charges against the 37-year-old actor on Thursday. Osment, known for his childhood roles in films like “The Sixth Sense” and “A.I.,” was taken into custody on April 8 at the Mammoth Mountain ski resort, allegedly for public intoxication.

Osment is scheduled for arraignment on July 7. As of Thursday, his representative had not responded to requests for comment regarding the charges.

Osment gained fame and received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance alongside Bruce Willis in the thriller “The Sixth Sense,” directed by M. Night Shyamalan. He later starred in Steven Spielberg’s “A.I.” and has since maintained a steady career as a voice actor. His recent appearances include roles in the television series “The Kominsky Method” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”

Earlier this year, Osment was among the many individuals who lost their homes due to the Eaton Fire, which caused significant destruction in the Altadena area near Los Angeles.

This is not Osment’s first legal issue; in 2006, he faced charges of drunken driving and marijuana possession after a car accident that resulted in a rib injury. The incident occurred in the Los Angeles area when his vehicle collided with a mailbox.
