Honduran Man Sentenced to Six Years for Illegal Reentry in Fort Myers, Florida

Fort Myers, FL – A Honduran national, Angel Antonio Trochez-Cruz, 39, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for reentering the United States illegally as an aggravated felon. The sentencing was handed down by United States District Judge Thomas P. Barber after Trochez-Cruz pleaded guilty on January 22, 2025.

Trochez-Cruz was originally deported from the U.S. on August 8, 2014, after serving a state prison sentence for robbery. Despite this removal, he unlawfully returned to the country. On December 21, 2023, federal immigration officials encountered Trochez-Cruz following his arrest on state charges.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, with prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick L. Darcey.
