Jacksonville, FL – Kevin Vasquez-Hernandez, a 33-year-old Honduran national, has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after deportation. U.S. District Judge Brian J. Davis issued the sentence following Vasquez-Hernandez’s guilty plea in February 2025.

Vasquez-Hernandez’s history of illegal entry into the U.S. dates back to 2012 when he was granted voluntary removal after being found unlawfully present in the country. In 2014, he was apprehended in Virginia and deported to Honduras the following year. His pattern of reentry continued, with subsequent encounters with law enforcement in Texas in 2016 and North Carolina in 2019, leading to another deportation after serving time for illegal reentry.

After his release from federal prison in 2020, Vasquez-Hernandez was deported once more to Honduras. However, he unlawfully returned to the U.S. in 2022. In December 2024, U.S. Border Patrol agents stopped the vehicle he was driving and discovered he was using a fraudulent identification card. Upon confirming his identity, authorities arrested Vasquez-Hernandez.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Elisibeth Adams.
