Jacksonville, FL – A 60-year-old Jacksonville man, Robert David Gulledge, has been sentenced to three months in federal prison for falsifying a military discharge document, according to the U.S. District Court. Gulledge admitted guilt on December 19, 2024, to charges of making false statements to a federal agency.

The fraudulent activity involved creating a fake Form DD-214, a military discharge document, in which Gulledge falsely claimed service in the United States Marine Corps. He fabricated various positions and awards, including the Bronze Star with V Device, Navy/Marine Jump Wings, and the Iraq Campaign and Kuwait Liberation awards.

Gulledge initially submitted the false document in 2009 to secure an Intelligence Analyst position on a government contract, a job he subsequently obtained. Over the next 15 years, he used the falsified form at least 10 times to apply for government contracting positions and claim Veterans Affairs benefits to which he was not entitled.

Deputy Assistant Director William Ferrari of the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service Office of Special Investigations emphasized the agency’s commitment to addressing document fraud, highlighting the importance of collaboration with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement agencies in safeguarding the integrity of official documents.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service, the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General, and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service. Assistant United States Attorney Kelly S. Milliron prosecuted the case.
