A tragic incident unfolded at Kalihiwai Beach when a 74-year-old man was pulled from the water on Monday morning. Identified as Peter Koorenhof from Kilauea, the man was found unresponsive around 7:30 a.m., according to reports from Kauai police. Bystanders on the scene took immediate action, performing CPR until professionals from the Ocean Safety Bureau and American Medical Response arrived to take over with advanced life-saving measures.
Despite their efforts, Koorenhof was transported to Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have stated that an autopsy will be conducted to ascertain the precise cause of death, though there is currently no suspicion of foul play involved in the incident.
