Last Defendant Admits Guilt in Harrison Township Shooting and Robbery

A felonious assault and aggravated robbery charge was recently dismissed in a case scheduled for sentencing on April 30. The incident occurred on November 30, when Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies responded to Miami Valley Hospital following a report of a shooting victim.

The victim recounted that he had arranged to meet an individual, Carpenter, in the 2400 block of Rugby Road with the intention of selling marijuana. After the transaction, two armed males reportedly approached his vehicle, forcibly robbed him of a black Nike bag, and physically dragged him out of the vehicle. As the victim attempted to flee, he was shot in the back.

Despite the victim’s brother being nearby, he did not witness the shooting but was able to transport his injured sibling to the hospital. Surveillance footage from the vicinity captured critical moments of the crime. It showed a Chevrolet Impala arriving at the scene, with a woman exiting to complete a transaction before reentering the vehicle. Shortly after, two males emerged from the direction of the Impala with guns drawn.

The video evidence depicted these individuals dragging the victim from his car and seizing his bag before shooting him as he escaped. They then fled the scene in the Impala.

Later that evening, around 8:30 p.m., deputies identified the Impala and attempted a traffic stop on North Dixie Drive near Bartley Road. The vehicle evaded capture until tire deflation spikes were deployed in the 5400 block of North Dixie Drive, bringing the car to a halt near Republic Drive. Carpenter and two co-defendants, Jermaine Harbor and Jerrell Harbor, were subsequently detained.

Legal outcomes for the co-defendants have been determined. Jermaine Harbor received a sentence ranging from four years and nine months to six years and three months for aggravated robbery, failure to comply, and possession of weapons under disability. Meanwhile, Jerrell Harbor was sentenced to a term of four to six years following his conviction for felonious assault and aggravated robbery.
