Libby’s Event Calendar Expands with New Council Approvals

A recent meeting of the city council saw Libby residents grappling with a packed schedule of upcoming events. Among the highlights is the Workforce Expo, taking place on April 23, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Lincoln Boulevard and the Memorial Center. Attendees will find Lincoln Boulevard closed on the Memorial Center side. This event brings together several Northwest Montana industries, such as manufacturing, healthcare, construction, and auto body, providing job seekers a chance to explore careers through hands-on activities and discussions about training paths.

On April 25, an Arbor Day celebration will be led by city and county forester Jennifer Nelson, featuring a tree planting event. Additionally, the Loggertown Baseball Club is organizing a youth baseball tournament at Remp Fields on June 14-15, with participation from 16 teams from various regions, including the Flathead Valley, Missoula, Bozeman, Great Falls, and Calgary.

Further festivities include the LOR Foundation’s three-year anniversary event on June 21 at Riverfront Park in Libby, featuring children’s games and food as they commemorate $1.7 million in community contributions since 2022. The following day, June 22, Mineral Avenue will close between Sixth and Third streets from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the Libby Area Business Association’s Summer Solstice event. A street closure on Mineral Avenue from Timberline Auto to Cabinet Mountain Brewing Company is also approved for Halloween festivities on October 31.

Libby Parks District plans the “Circle Swede Gravel Ride” on September 13, offering a 35-mile and a 62-mile loop starting and ending at J. Neils Memorial Park. This event aims to boost awareness of outdoor recreation, support the Libby Parks District’s needs, and aid a local charity.

The council has also approved variances for the Igniters Car Club’s “Ignite the Nites” car show from August 14-16. According to igniterscarclub.com, the event begins with registration on August 14 from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Mineral Avenue, followed by a cruise from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Neon Lights and Flame Throwers will perform at 9 p.m. outside First Montana Bank. The car show continues on August 16, with registration from 8 a.m. to noon and the show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additional activities include costume contests at 1 p.m., an awards ceremony at 3 p.m., and the Ron Remp Memorial Burnout Contest at 5 p.m. at Millpond Motocross Park.
