The 4-H State Project Bowl contest recently took place in Sauk Rapids, showcasing the agricultural expertise of youth participants from Mower County. During the event on April 12, twenty-three young individuals, organized into six teams, demonstrated their proficiency in a range of animal science and agricultural topics. These topics included dairy, dogs, general livestock, horses, llamas, poultry, and rabbits.
In this competitive environment, teams composed of three to six members were tested through a series of one-on-one and open rounds. Points were awarded to the first participant to provide the correct answer, emphasizing quick thinking and knowledge application.
The 4-H Project Bowl program offers youth the opportunity to collaborate with peers while expanding their understanding of various animal science areas. It also aids in the development of communication skills and the formation of meaningful relationships, contributing to their future success.
The results from the State Contest are as follows:
- General Livestock Junior – Seventh place: Alex E, Amber L, Eisley R, Noah K, Trista G
- General Livestock Intermediate – Fourth place: Caleb R, Caden V, Ella H, Henry H, Kallie K
- Horse Junior – Seventh place: Jordyn D, Leah Z, Lillianna Z, Nevaeh S
- Poultry Senior – First place: Reuben D.
- Rabbit Junior – Fourth place: Connor B, Heather M, Leena C, Sophie E
- Rabbit Senior – First place: Courtney A, Haylie M, Natalie C, Renae C
