Reports have emerged of vehicles malfunctioning after refueling at two local gas stations, prompting an investigation into the issue. This situation has raised concerns among customers who experienced their cars ceasing to operate properly after visiting these stations.
According to the county auditor, water infiltration into the underground gas tanks has been identified as the likely cause of the problem. However, it’s noted that in Ohio, there is no mandate to check for ‘fuel quality,’ which includes detecting the presence of water, sediment, dirt, or low octane levels in the fuel.
The auditor is currently investigating complaints specifically directed at a Sunoco station located in West Carrollton and another facility in Farmersville. Upon receiving consumer complaints, the auditor’s office conducts checks to substantiate claims, and in this situation, they confirmed higher levels of water in the storage tanks.
The importance of customer feedback has been stressed, as it can aid in identifying issues that gas station employees may not be aware of, such as water leaks into fuel tanks. Customers are encouraged to report any irregularities they notice to the respective stations to help resolve the issue promptly.
