Authorities have confirmed that a man allegedly grabbed a child’s wrist as the child rode a bicycle. The incident took place on Monday, April 14, around 4:30 p.m. on the 7300 block of 202nd Street Southwest, as a group of three young boys cycled behind the Lynnwood Golf Course.
The suspect in the incident is described as a Hispanic male, approximately between 45 and 50 years of age. At the time, he was wearing a black puffy jacket, black jeans, and a sweatshirt. During the encounter, he did not speak but reportedly reached out and grasped one of the boys by the wrist. The child managed to quickly pull away and escape to a nearby home. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and there was no indication that the man attempted to pull the boy from his bicycle.
The suspect was last observed walking in the same direction as the boys were riding, close to the intersection of 73rd Avenue West and 202nd Street Southwest. In response to the incident, the Lynnwood Police Department has informed the local school district and plans to enhance police presence in the vicinity as a safety measure. Detectives are treating the case as an assault and have taken over the investigation.
