A man has been charged with two felonies following an incident involving a bomb threat directed at a massage school in Dania Beach. Authorities from the Broward Sheriff’s Office reported that Choenyi Dhondup, 34, a resident of Miramar, is alleged to have made the threat against the Bright Education Institute School of Massage, Health and Beauty, located at 180 E. Dania Beach Blvd.
According to the arrest report, Dhondup’s actions were motivated by a grievance related to a “perceived wrong,” specifically his belief that the school owed him a refund for previous educational expenses. Dhondup reportedly has had ongoing issues with the institution since February.
On Tuesday, Dhondup allegedly contacted the school and informed an employee that he could “pull a pin” and “blow up this school,” prompting the employee to perceive the threat as credible and alarming.
In response, deputies arrived at Dhondup’s residence on the 8600 block of Sutton Drive around 5:45 p.m., where they arrested him. The charges include threatening to discharge a destructive device and the use of a two-way communications device in the commission of a felony.
Jail records indicate that Dhondup is being held at the BSO Main Jail with a bond set at $12,500. Additionally, an immigration hold has been placed on him, although the arrest report does not disclose his nationality.
