Miami Gardens police apprehend man accused of shooting mother-in-law, authorities report

A suspect believed to have shot and critically injured his mother-in-law in Miami Gardens was captured nearly a day after the incident occurred. Authorities confirmed the arrest of 49-year-old Bilal Ismail on Tuesday morning, shortly after 11:20 a.m.

The shooting, which took place just before 11:30 a.m. on Monday, occurred in the 4400 block of Northwest 203rd Terrace. Following the incident, Ismail reportedly fled the scene in a Ford F-150. He was later detained without incident during a felony traffic stop involving a silver Toyota RAV4.

The motive behind the shooting is still unclear. According to a spokesperson from the Miami Gardens Police Department, the circumstances leading Ismail to open fire on his mother-in-law remain unknown. The victim resides at the location where the shooting transpired.

As of Tuesday, Ismail had not yet been registered in the Miami-Dade jail records.
