The community is invited to honor and remember the late City of Miami Commissioner Manolo Reyes on Tuesday. Reyes, who passed away on Friday at the age of 80 after a battle with leukemia, was a respected figure in Miami’s political landscape. He was first elected to the Miami City Commission in November 2017 and won reelection to the District 4 seat, representing Flagami and Coral Way, in 2019 without opposition.
A visitation for Reyes will take place at Caballero Rivero Westchester, located at 8200 Bird Road, from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Tuesday. Following this, a mass will be held on Wednesday at St. Michael Church.
Reyes’s family expressed their deep sorrow over his passing, highlighting his love for family, friends, and his enduring hope for a free and democratic Cuba. Known for his devotion to the residents of District 4 and the broader City of Miami, Reyes fulfilled his lifelong dream of serving as a City Commissioner with passion and integrity. Despite his cancer diagnosis, he remained committed to his responsibilities and continued to engage with constituents until shortly before his hospitalization.

His legacy is marked by his unwavering commitment to public service and high moral standards. Remembered as a man of integrity, Reyes leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Chacha Reyes; his daughter Meily and her husband Antonio Rios; his son Manny and his wife Adriana Pereira-Reyes; and his grandsons Maximo, Matthew, and Daniel. He is also survived by his sisters Mayda Rodriguez and Merle Reyes, as well as cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family.
