A suspect has been formally charged months after a shooting incident at a gas station in northwest Miami-Dade, according to authorities. Reinaldo Trujillo-Sanchez, a 28-year-old resident of Hialeah, faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The shooting took place on January 29 at approximately 8:20 a.m. at the Mobil gas station located at 10291 NW 27th Ave. When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and left arm. The victim was subsequently transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he received medical treatment for his injuries.
Surveillance footage of the incident reportedly shows Trujillo-Sanchez approaching the victim, leading to a verbal altercation between the two. During the confrontation, Trujillo-Sanchez allegedly brandished a silver firearm, striking the victim on the head with the butt of the weapon, and ultimately firing at him.
The victim was able to identify Trujillo-Sanchez as the assailant in a photo lineup conducted by deputies. The report does not disclose any motive for the shooting.
Authorities noted that Trujillo-Sanchez declined to provide a statement to detectives last week. At the time of the charges, he was already in custody at the Metrowest Detention Center for a separate case. He remains in jail without bond, with an immigration hold, as of the latest reports.
