Late Wednesday afternoon, several fire departments from Hollandale, Clarks Grove, Geneva, and Hayward responded to a house fire at 408 Central Ave. S. in Hollandale. Flames consumed part of the house and scorched surrounding brush. One individual was evaluated on the scene by Mayo Clinic personnel for smoke inhalation but did not require hospital transport.
Earlier that week, a city-owned trailer was reported missing on Tuesday morning from 20532 810th Ave. in Hayward, prompting a police investigation into the theft.
In a separate incident at Albert Lea High School, authorities cited a juvenile for fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct following an altercation on Tuesday afternoon.
On Wednesday, deputies were alerted to the theft of jewelry from a residence on 220th St. in Albert Lea, marking another case of property crime in the area.
Wednesday evening saw the arrest of Rachel Marie Petersen, aged 27, who was taken into custody on a local warrant at a location on 670th Ave. in Alden.
Residents reported several incidents of vehicle tampering. Early Wednesday morning, police received a report of a vehicle being rummaged through and items stolen at East Sixth St. Additionally, a vehicle was reported stolen later in the afternoon from Lloyd Place.
Another arrest occurred on Wednesday afternoon when Ler Wah Guide, aged 41, was apprehended for driving after cancellation deemed inimical to public safety during a traffic stop on South Broadway.
The same day, officers cited Carolyn Elizabeth Sternhagen, aged 64, for misdemeanor theft at an address on Blake Ave.
