New Specialty Running Store Races into Kalispell’s Retail Scene

A new specialty retail store dedicated to runners has opened its doors in downtown Kalispell, enhancing the community’s access to high-quality running gear and events. The Kalispell Running Company, owned by Casey Jermyn, aims to foster a vibrant running community in the greater Flathead Valley. Jermyn also owns Bozeman Running Company, which he established in 2010 in Bozeman. His ventures have become known for hosting community events like brew runs, trash clean-up runs, and film festivals, enriching the running culture and the broader community.

Officially launched on March 22, the Kalispell store offers a wide array of running-specific products. Shoppers will find footwear, Garmin watches, Lululemon apparel, and other essential running gear. The inventory includes a variety of items unique to the running world, offering a broader selection of running shoes and related products compared to typical outdoor stores.

Located on Main Street in the former Imagination Station building, the store underwent a complete renovation, featuring lofted ceilings and a new wooden floor. This spacious interior provides ample room for potential future expansions.

Casey Jermyn, originally from Plains, developed a passion for running in middle school. His commitment to the sport led him to revive his high school’s cross country program and earn a scholarship to Montana State University. Recognized for his achievements, he was inducted into the university’s Hall of Fame in 2023. After earning a degree in business management with a minor in entrepreneurship, Jermyn worked as a sales representative for Brooks Running before returning to Montana to open his own businesses.

Since opening in Kalispell, the specialty store has received positive feedback from the running community, including young athletes, coaches, and ultramarathoners. The store features an Albert 2 Pro Scanner by Aetrex, which provides precise foot measurements and pressure mapping to help customers find the perfect shoe or insole. Customers can also test different shoe styles on the store’s treadmill and in its open space.

While Jermyn primarily resides in Bozeman, where he coaches cross country at Bozeman High School, he plans to engage actively with the Kalispell community through events and group runs. The store currently employs four staff members and is situated at 132 S. Main St., operating Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. More information about the store can be found at shop.flatheadrunningcompany.com.
