Orlando, FL – Senior U.S. District Judge John Antoon II has sentenced Timothy Aden-Alan Calhoun, a 27-year-old resident of Orlando, to two years and ten months in federal prison for possession of a machinegun. The sentencing, announced on Monday, was part of the ongoing Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence.
Calhoun's legal troubles began on February 25, 2025, when he pleaded guilty to the charges. The incident leading to his arrest occurred when Maitland Police Department officers stopped him for a traffic violation while he was riding a stolen motorcycle. During the arrest, officers discovered a Glock 19 with an extended magazine and a machinegun conversion device. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) confirmed the firearm had been converted into a fully automatic weapon.
As part of the sentence, Calhoun was ordered to forfeit the firearm in question. This case was investigated collaboratively by the ATF and the Maitland Police Department, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Michael P. Felicetta and Kaley Austin-Aronson.
Project Safe Neighborhoods, under which this case falls, is a nationwide program that unites law enforcement at all levels with community organizations to reduce violent crime. The initiative, revamped by the Department of Justice on May 26, 2021, focuses on building trust and legitimacy within communities, supporting violence prevention efforts, strategically setting enforcement priorities, and evaluating results to improve community safety.
