Palestinian Nationals Indicted in Tampa for Illegal Firearm Possession

Tampa, FL – Two Palestinian nationals, Mohammed Aburidi, 24, and Tareq Aburidi, 19, have been indicted on charges of possessing firearms and ammunition while in the United States on nonimmigrant visas. If found guilty, they could each face up to 15 years in federal prison.

The indictments allege that on November 26, 2024, the Aburidi brothers were in possession of firearms and ammunition despite their nonimmigrant visa status. It’s important to note that an indictment is a formal accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations, with support from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Risha Asokan will prosecute the case.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and enhancing community safety against violent crime.
