Palm Bay Overdose Deaths: Two Arrested in Connection

The recent arrests by Palm Bay Police underscore their steadfast dedication to tackling the proliferation of deadly drug overdoses. This week, two individuals were apprehended in connection with two overdose fatalities, marking significant strides in the effort to curb this crisis.

On April 14, 2025, authorities arrested Charles Mariner on charges of First Degree Murder related to the overdose death of Ryan White, aged 34. Shortly after, on April 16, 2025, John Garcia faced similar charges for the overdose death of 52-year-old Alexandre Magdalhaes. These tragic cases underscore the police department’s commitment to holding those responsible for distributing fentanyl accountable.

The investigation into these incidents began on January 5, 2024, when officers discovered an unresponsive male at a residence on Glencove Ave NW. The individual was later pronounced dead, with preliminary findings indicating a drug overdose. At the scene, investigators found drug paraphernalia and a substance that tested positive for fentanyl. Diligent investigative efforts led to the identification of Charles Mariner, aged 38, as the suspect believed to have supplied the narcotics.

Similarly, on May 22, 2024, officers responded to a call about the death of an adult male at a residence on Argosy Street SE. Initial assessments pointed to a drug-related cause. The scene revealed a white powdery substance and drug paraphernalia, both testing positive for fentanyl. Through comprehensive interviews and evidence analysis, John Garcia, aged 23, was identified as the individual who allegedly delivered the drugs to the victim.
