People’s Town Hall Event in Bemidji Organized by Practicing Democracy

A newly established local political action committee, Practicing Democracy, is organizing a non-partisan People’s Town Hall. This event is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, with registration available on the organization’s website. The precise location of the event will be disclosed to those who register.

Practicing Democracy aims to engage the public in a dialogue about federal policies and their effects on local communities. The initiative for these discussions stems from Minnesotans’ expressed interest in participating in town halls. Invitations have been extended to U.S. Representative Pete Stauber, who serves Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District, alongside other local elected officials.

Local officials are expected to attend and provide insights into how federal policies are influencing the school district, city, county, and state. The event also presents an opportunity for residents to share personal narratives concerning the impact of federal policies and the Department of Government Efficiency on their families, farms, businesses, and communities.

Co-led by Jen Schultz and Adrienne Dinneen, Practicing Democracy seeks to promote community engagement across political lines, with the goal of influencing federal policy while appreciating its local impact. The committee’s mission is to reinforce democracy by engaging and empowering residents in greater Minnesota, fostering civic participation, and supporting coalitions addressing community challenges.

Practicing Democracy plans to organize additional town halls throughout Congressional District 8. For further information about the organization or upcoming town halls, inquiries can be directed to [email protected].
