President Trump and First Lady Melania to Host White House Easter Egg Roll

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are preparing to welcome approximately 40,000 guests to the White House Easter Egg Roll, marking the first event of its kind during Trump’s second term. This traditional gathering, taking place on Monday, will feature children guiding vibrantly colored hard-boiled eggs across the White House lawn. Additionally, attendees can enjoy an egg hunt and a series of activities designed to promote the upcoming 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

As part of the event, families will have the opportunity to sign a mini-Declaration of Independence or don costumes depicting the nation’s Founding Fathers. The daylong celebration promises numerous activity stations, live performances, and storytimes, with readings from the First Lady and various administration officials.

Emily Metz, President and CEO of the Egg Board, shared that the eggs for the event were carefully hand-dyed by board staff and volunteers before being delivered to the White House on Friday. Metz acknowledged the challenges faced by egg farmers and consumers due to the recent avian flu outbreak, which has led to a significant egg shortage and increased prices.

To avoid exacerbating the situation, the eggs donated for the event were small and medium-sized, categories typically not available in retail stores. Metz highlighted that nearly 9 million dozen eggs are sold daily in the United States, emphasizing the importance of using real eggs for this cherished tradition.
