Rochester Man Sentenced for 2021 Sexual Assault

A Wisconsin man, involved in a 2021 sexual assault case, has received a sentence of over three years in jail. Jorge Emilio Beniquez-Gomez, aged 32, faced charges of criminal sexual conduct and entered a Norgaard plea to one count in September, a legal stance acknowledging a lack of recollection of the incident due to intoxication. Following this plea, a second charge was dismissed.

The sentencing, delivered by Olmsted County District Judge Christa Daily, includes a 41-month prison term to be served at the St. Cloud correctional facility, followed by a decade of probation. Additionally, Beniquez-Gomez is mandated to register as a predatory offender.

The case unfolded after Rochester police received a report from a victim advocate about a sexual assault that occurred on October 16, 2021. The victim, a woman in her 20s, recounted an evening spent drinking with friends, which concluded at a friend’s apartment where she was assisted to bed due to intoxication.

Beniquez-Gomez, who was familiar with the apartment’s lessor, was present during the incident. The woman reported awakening to find herself being assaulted. Subsequent investigations revealed Beniquez-Gomez’s DNA on the woman’s cervix, corroborating the assault claim.
