Saint Clair Resident Imprisoned for Stabbing Incident

A man from Saint Clair, aged 25, is in custody at Schuylkill County Prison following an alleged stabbing incident. Authorities report that Roberto J. Martir-Crespo, residing at 127 N. Second St., has been charged in connection with an altercation that took place early Friday morning outside a restaurant on Hancock Street.

Police were initially dispatched to the location around 1:40 a.m., where they found no immediate signs of suspicious activity. However, subsequent investigations led an officer to visit a hospital where the victim, Jonathan Schramm, was receiving treatment for injuries.

Schramm, who sustained significant injuries to his chest and ribs, recounted the events to the police. He mentioned encountering a man known as “Queso” at 129 N. Second St. while he and a friend were checking on a woman they were concerned about. The confrontation escalated when the suspect allegedly screamed at Schramm and attempted to hit him. In response, Schramm used a car door to push the suspect away, at which point he was reportedly stabbed.

The victim reportedly experienced dizziness and severe bleeding, prompting his friend to rush him to the emergency room. Medical examination revealed a chest laceration approximately five inches deep.

According to law enforcement, Martir-Crespo contacted emergency services to report the incident, admitting to the stabbing and indicating he had also sustained a leg injury. Martir-Crespo later informed officers that he had consumed alcohol prior to the incident.

The charges against Martir-Crespo include a second-degree felony for aggravated assault and several misdemeanors, such as possessing an instrument of crime, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct. Following an arraignment by Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Martir-Crespo was unable to post a $50,000 bail and remains incarcerated.
