A scholarship has been established to honor the memory of Xiomara Moore, a North Carolina A&T student who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run accident last year. Driven by her impactful legacy, the university’s alumni have initiated this scholarship to ensure her memory continues to inspire future students.
Xiomara Moore, a 21-year-old medical management major, was fatally struck in a crash in downtown Greensboro last April. Despite her untimely passing, the influence she had on those around her remains significant.
Her mother, Coronia Moore, expressed the profound emptiness felt by the family since Xiomara’s passing, yet finds solace in the scholarship as a way to perpetuate her daughter’s light. Xiomara’s impact on North Carolina A&T is still palpable, with many at the university continuing to remember her fondly.
The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to students, allowing Xiomara’s name and spirit to live on within the academic community. Coronia anticipates with joy the day a student receives the scholarship, graduates, and carries forward Xiomara’s legacy.
After several months of investigation, authorities made significant strides in the case by arresting and charging two individuals linked to the hit-and-run incident in late June.
The Human Angle
The establishment of this scholarship serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring impact one life can have on many. For students, especially those at North Carolina A&T, this scholarship not only provides a financial opportunity but also a chance to connect with Xiomara’s legacy, embodying her passion and dedication to her studies and community.
This initiative reflects a broader community’s commitment to honoring the memory of those lost too soon, turning tragedy into a beacon of hope and opportunity for others. As each recipient of the scholarship embarks on their educational journey, they carry with them the spirit of Xiomara, inspiring them to contribute positively to the world.
