Scooter Rider Fatally Collides with Pickup Truck in Key Largo, Troopers Report

An unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday evening when a man riding an electric scooter lost his life following a collision with a pickup truck in Key Largo. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the accident took place shortly before 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Bay Drive, close to Mile Marker 99.

The man was traveling north on the southbound sidewalk of U.S. 1 when he collided with the right side of a black Chevrolet pickup truck that was making a right turn from Bay Drive onto the highway. Following the crash, the man was transported to Baptist Health Mariner’s Hospital in Tavernier, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol has not released any information regarding the man’s age or identity.
