A man was discovered on West Grand Avenue suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg, hip, and back. Following this incident, he was initially taken to Mercy Health – Springfield and subsequently transferred to Miami Valley Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Investigations revealed that a suspect fled to a residence on the 100 block of West Grand, approximately a mile south of downtown Springfield, immediately after the shooting. He later escaped after changing his clothes. During a search of the home, authorities recovered the suspect’s original attire and a box of .40 caliber ammunition that matched the casings found at the crime scene.
Surveillance footage was instrumental in identifying the suspect, seen wearing a red sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black shoes before the shooting. Another video captured on the 200 block of West Grand Avenue allegedly shows the suspect approaching the victim, drawing a handgun, and firing as the victim attempted to walk away. After the victim fell, the suspect reportedly stood over him with the weapon before fleeing the scene.
The suspect, identified as Windsor, has been ordered to be transported to the Ohio State Penitentiary in Orient.
