A 36-year-old individual was taken into custody on Sunday following an alleged theft of a Rolls Royce from outside a luxury condominium complex in Miami. The incident unfolded at the Paraiso Bayviews building located at 501 NE 31st St. The stolen vehicle was later discovered the same day at a Shell gas station situated at 5343 NW Seventh Ave.
Law enforcement responded to the gas station after the Rolls Royce was tracked to the vicinity. Upon arrival, officers observed the vehicle with its driver’s side door and trunk open. A patron at the gas station alerted the officer, indicating that the man who had been driving the car was now across the street in an AutoZone parking lot, engaged in a dispute with a witness.
The suspect, identified as James Brown of Miami, attempted to flee upon noticing the officer’s approach. Brown navigated through the parking lot and over a fence before officers apprehended him in the area of Northeast Seventh Court and 54th Street.
According to authorities, the vehicle’s owner had entrusted it to valet personnel at the condominium entrance, instructing them to watch over it briefly while he retrieved his wallet from upstairs. Although the vehicle was left running and unlocked, the owner retained possession of the keys.

Brown opted not to cooperate with detectives during questioning. He faces charges of grand theft of a vehicle and resisting an officer without violence. As of Monday morning, he remains detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, awaiting bond determination.
