Suspect in Broward Stabbing Arrested in Brevard County; 1 Dead, 1 Injured, Deputies Report

A man was taken into custody in Brevard County following a murder and an attempted murder in Broward County, as announced by authorities on Sunday. The suspect, aged 56, identified as Vital Joseph, allegedly assaulted two individuals in North Lauderdale early Saturday morning. The victims, Maguy Pouye, with whom Joseph had a previous relationship, and Isabelle Joseph, were attacked at approximately 1:50 a.m. at a residence on 1842 Runners Way, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency responders from North Lauderdale Fire Rescue discovered the victims suffering from stab wounds and promptly transported them to a hospital. Tragically, Pouye succumbed to her injuries. Eyewitness accounts indicate that law enforcement utilized canine units and a helicopter in their search for the suspect.

Later that Saturday evening, in coordination with the Florida Highway Patrol, officers from the Palm Bay Police Department apprehended Joseph. He now faces charges including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and burglary of a dwelling with a battery. The suspect is currently awaiting extradition.
